The good news is that the Southeast Alaska State Fair has some great entertainment and rides for the kids this year. The bad news is that school starts on August 21st. The teachers return to school on August 17th. Where did the summer go?

Dan and Barb Richardson have been back for the summer in their Highlands Estate home. They spend the winter in California, and are now retired. Their daughter, Valerie works in San Francisco.

Paul and Rhona Nelson are sponsoring a “racing pig” and of course, its name is “Big Foot”. So watch for this “speedy” pig during the fair.

Sacred Heart Catholic Church will once again have their hamburger booth at the Southeast Fair. It is the longest-running food booth, and is manned by church volunteers. The money earned from this project has gone to help the Haines Medical Clinic, families in need, the new ambulance, carpet in the church, and many other worthy projects.

Boyson Lammers is back home for a visit with family and friends. He was out walking on Monday and told me he has retired to enjoy life, his children and grandchildren. Glad to see you back, Boyson!

Clint and Glynda Amox had Clint’s two nieces visit last week from Tyler, Texas. Lisa Miller and Becky Cagle took in the sights around Haines while staying with the Amox’s.
